The OLITEC Story

The OLITEC story The story of OLITEC is a very successful one, but one which has a very sad background.

18 year old Olivier Lejeune had a great aptitude for all things electronic and technical. In addition to this expertise he had a talent as an entrepreneur. In 1985 Olivier constructed an innovative and low cost modem. A new manufacturing method made it possible to drastically reduce production costs. At that time a similar modem cost approx. 10000 FRF - Olivier Lejeune's modem could be sold for 1700 FRF

Olivier's birthday present from his parents was most unusual - two pages of advertising in a computer magazine! Olivier placed an advertisement for his newly developed modem and the response to the advert was overwhelming. Indeed it set the foundation for the start-up of a company to market the modem and for future expansion.

The company that was up to that point in time run in a garage where all friends and family helped, soon moved into an industrial park in Nancy.

1985 saw the official foundation of OLITEC in Nancy, France. (The company name stems from Olivier + technology.)

The tragic death of Olivier Lejeune in an airplane crash in 1988 could have meant the end of his company. However, in true belief of Olivier's accomplishments on the market, his mother, Jacqueline Lejeune, gave up her own profession and took over the management of the company. She has lead OLITEC to its successful position in the market today.
